ONLY GENUINE PRODUCTS
Plisson has been manufacturing shaving brushes in their workshops in Plerin, near Saint-Brieuc in Brittany, France since 1808. Founded by Georges Plisson, the company quickly gained a reputation for quality and was named the Official Supplier to Napoleon's court.
Since the 19th Century Plisson has been a distinctive sign of high society. King Hassan II, King Farouk of Egypt, the Emir of Qatar, Jean Marais, Charles de Gaulle and even Pope Pius Pio XI regularly used their products.
Since the beginning the Plisson shaving brushes were made and assembled by hand, following the great tradition of the luxury artisans. In their laboratories every single shaving brush is a true treasure of “savoir-faire”, or know-how, and is a concentrate of French passion in their craftsmanship.
“There are shaving brushes and there are Plisson brushes” say shaving professionals.
At Plisson, they use only 100% genuine badger hair in their brushes. This hair, which is soft and at the same time resistant, is subdivided into bundles of uniform length, thus avoiding all further deformation of the bundle, even after many years of use. The bundles are weighed precisely to a tenth of a gram to ensure uniformity, and then assembled in the form of a bouquet. With the use of a special cup, the bouquet is pre-shaped as a ball form which gives the brush its rounded profile. Once again taken in hand, the brush maker works the bouquet until it acquires its final shape. At this stage the bouquet is tied and cut at the base before being glued into its new home, a beautiful lathe turned and hand polished handle. A final touch up will give each Plisson its true character, instantly recognized worldwide: a voluminous round shape with a regular slant towards the handle.
Plisson only uses genuine badger hair. A range of five hair qualities is available:
The high moutain white, The European white and European grey, the chinese grey or black.
==> The High Mountain White is caracterized by its softness and its extreme resistance. Its rarity makes it an exceptional brush.
==> The European White, while keeping most of the qualities of the first, will however be not as white, not as luminous.
==> The European Grey, has more spring, is firmer. This quality combined with its softness, makes it one of the mostly used shaving brushes.
==> The Chinese Grey, more available, therefore not as dear as the latter, will have most of the qualities of an excellent shaving brush.
==> The Black Quality, is also pure Badger. Its resistance and its price make it the most affordable of the range.
